History

The Abbey Chorale was formed in 1994 from local talent with the love for music and singing from around the Telford area in Shropshire. The choir has links with Ironbridge Power Station and in particular its Social Club, called the Abbey Club, which it uses for rehearsals.

The Choir has a small membership and started competitive  singing in 1996.  Since then it has won many competitions including BBC Radio Shropshire Choir of the Year twice and ‘runner up’ in the regional heat of Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year in 1997 as well as competitions at Biddulph and Lichfield to name but two.

The Abbey Chorale has given numerous concerts throughout Shropshire and Blackpool and is well known in the area for singing at weddings and private parties.  The repertoire is varied with music from 15th century madrigals and church music to contemporary  and popular music from the shows.
